If your interested in joining, we have put together some information which should help you decide if its for you or not. Some of the common questions that people ask are below, but if you have a question that is not covered below, please go to the ‘Contact Us’ page by clicking here, or the link on the left hand menu.

Who are the Sea Cadets?
The Sea Cadets are a national youth organisation and wear a uniform similar to the Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Marines (RM). The Sea Cadets is not a pre-military organisation and many of our cadets do not join the forces. However, if you are interested in joining the Royal Navy or Royal Marines, being a cadet will certainly stand you in good stead.

Who can join the Sea Cadets?
The Sea Cadet Corps is open to young people from all walks of life and is open to people with all kinds of abilities. The Unit in Rugby has a Junior Sea Cadet Section and Sea Cadet and Marine Cadet Detachment. For more information on each of the sections, go to ‘Meet the Cadets’ on the left hand menu for more information. The Junior Sea Cadets are open to 10-12 year olds. The Sea Cadets are open to 12-18 year olds and the Marine Cadets for 13-18 year olds.

If your over 18, there are opportunities to get involved by becoming an instructor or by joining the civilian management committee.

How much does it cost to Join?
There is no cost to join but we do have a subscription policy. We parade twice a week, on Monday and Wednesday evening, and its just £1.25 per night. This can either be paid in cash or by standing order. If you join, you will be given the option that suits you best. The only other costs are for training courses which are very minimal. You do not have to buy the uniform, it is loaned on a deposit basis.
